Vaccinating your pets is very important in helping keep them safe from transmittable diseases and to prevent spreading any diseases.
Dog Vaccinations:
The vaccination for dogs gives protection against Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvovirus, with the additional Kennel Cough vaccine consisting of Bordatella and Parainfluenza. Parvovirus is a very nasty virus that can cause chronic bloody vomiting and diarrhea and cause death. Kennel Cough is also a hard virus to treat that can also have horrible side effects, in worst cases resulting in death also. Even if your dog isn’t going into kennels, they can still contract it if they encounter another dog or the same environment an infected dog has been to, for example, the beach or dog park.
Cat Vaccinations:
Common viruses Cats and young kittens are prone to are feline panleukopaenia, feline calicivirus and feline herpesvirus. All of which can cause serious illnesses.
Vaccines also available Feline Leukaemia and FIV which are viruses that is transmitted through saliva of infected cats, generally through cats biting through fighting or playing.
Vaccination Schedule:
- 1st vaccine- 6-8weeks
- 2nd vaccine- 12-14weeks
- 3rd vaccine – 16weeks
- Then yearly booster vaccinations
